First impression

It only takes a few seconds for office furniture in Auckland to create an impression. The attention of a user can be captured by the colorful slideshow right under the navigation menu. The slider presents the images of the product in an appealing way so that the user will be encouraged to continue scrolling down the page. However, the issue with web design is the abundance of information presented that can easily confuse or overwhelm the user. A user who is in hurry to delve deeper on what the page offers can be discouraged with the difficulty of reading small texts.


Navigation is simple and consistent without the overwhelming the user with lots of choices. The sub-pages also follow the same navigation format and behave the same way to allow the user to find more information regarding office furniture. Because of consistency of navigation, the user always knows where he is. Language is user friendly, which the user can easily understand. The only way for a web design to break from the conventional navigation menu is the possibility for a better or more effective navigation menu that will encourage interaction from a user.


There is no question about the amount of information provided to the user. In fact, its abundance makes the user overwhelmed. Web design of the homepage should have focused on information that is more important to users. The rest of the information like the delivery and assembly options that are equally important to the user can be placed in the sub-pages that are easily accessible through the navigation menu. On the other hand, text does not contain any typographical and grammatical errors. However, users of the site are not there to critique text because it is not a thesis or school report.

The images are clear and colourful particularly those chosen for the slideshow. Meanwhile, since most users are impatient, the amount of information presented on the homepage may be able to satisfy their requirements. Even if they do not click on an item in the navigation bar, the information provided in the homepage of office furniture in Auckland is more than adequate enough for a confident purchasing decision.

Beyond a Word creates personalized arts for their customers that can vary depending on the purpose of the art – it can be a gift with a special quote, a photo collage or a word art for newlywed couples. Customers have the option to create their own design from the wording and the colour scheme used. Today, we are going to critique the website of this Australian company.

Calls to action. This is a very important feature for an e-commerce website but, most of the time this is one of the most forgotten or taken for granted. This is essential if you want your website to create more leads. Look at your analytics and if there is an evident amount of traffic on the site but without an increase in sales then there is something wrong with the calls to actions or the fact that the website has none. With Beyond a Word, the “contact us” bubble is obviously embedded at the bottom of the page and it moves along as you scroll up and down. This is to prompt customers to take an action and contact them regarding any questions.

Contact information. When viewed on the normal desktop screen, there is no link to the contact page on top along with other page tabs but at the bottom there is site navigation in button list which includes the link to the Contact Us page. If you reduce the screen size of the browser, the page tab at the top transforms into a hamburger menu and “Contact” is already included in the list. This could be a glitch or the designer failed to see the error.

Professional look. For an e-commerce website, a professional looking website is important because it reflects the company. Beyond a Word definitely made an effort to make their site look like they mean business. There are no unnecessary features included just because it is cool or trending. The basic is all in their homepage. They paid attention to what their customers will look for thus providing them everything in the homepage so they don’t look any further. There is a good flow to the content and loading is fast.

As many healthcare organisations are demanding for quick solutions that are easy to execute, maintain and configure, it is key that integration among all the components in the data centre is done before execution. With the advancing of IT infrastructure and its security in technology, the volume of data collected and stored will also increase in tandem. Thus, there is a need for healthcare organisations to ensure that these systems are in place so that data is stored safely and can be accessed privately and speedily.
